With the cold weather approaching I have become interested in researching activities to help myself remain active throughout the winter season. I have always been interested in Yoga but was also nervous to try it because I do not consider myself a very flexible or patient person, so I think holding the poses may be somewhat difficult. But I am very interested in the relaxation benefits so I decided to do some research to see whether or not it is worth trying.
Within my research I found that the main benefits from practicing yoga are flexibility strength and posture. I also looked up near by gyms that provide yoga classes and found many that provide beginner classes and recommend them to start.
According to Webmd, yoga works by safely stretching your muscles releasing lactic acid that builds up with muscle and causes stiffness, tension, pain, and fatigue. Yoga also increases the range of motion in joints and is said to create a sense of ease and fluidity throughout your body. According to WebMd, "Participants in yoga had up to a 35% improvement in flexibility after only 8 weeks of yoga.
After my research and looking up some classes I feel better about trying somthing new and the benifits are great as long as it is somthing that you are willing to stick with.
