New Sneakers claim to Firm your Butt!

While watching TV I became interested in a commercial for a new pair of sneakers, Reebok Easytones. These sneakers claim to firm your butt and thighs if you wear them while walking. According to Reebok the sneakers simulate a "workout" similar to as if you were walking on sand.
According to the stats on the Reebok website the sneakers work your glutes 28% more than walking alone, and work your hamstrings and calves up to 11% more when used correctly.

The new workout shoes are similar to another new product you may have seen, Sketchers Shape-ups, claim to do the same type of thing but have a much more clunky and weird shape to them, making it obvious that they are not a normal sneaker.

When I first heard about these new products i viewed them as another diet fad that will quickly disappear. I have always felt that the best way to shape up is to actually just go hit the gym. Although I think these products may be helpful to someone who consistently walks for exercise because it is difficult for them to do a more strenuous workout (older women with osteoperosis or joint problems.)

But I am curious to see if they actually do make a noticeable difference. As well as improving the look of your butt the sketchers version of the shoe claim to improve your posture, imporve blood circulation, and reduce knee joint stress.

And the Reebok style of the shoe is actually pretty cute, much more practicle looking than the sketchers version, and the commercial made almost made me want to go get a pair for the days that I don't feel like hitting the gym. Thoughts?

  1. I actually JUST saw two different commercials for this product, and I am so tempted to go buy them. I think they are really cute sneakers, and why not buy them if they'll firm my legs and glutes? I am skeptical about the percentages and such though. I am definitely on the same page though!

  2. I also saw these commercials and i thought the same thing if they could actually work for women. My girlfriend and I were watching T.V and she thinks they're the greatest thing and keeps asking me if I think they would work. They look like they could actually do some good. They have like bosu ball like bottoms on the heal and ball of the foot. Possibly influence balance through an isometric workout but it's definately not a quick fix, that's where exercise comes into play.

  3. My sister stopped at my appartment yesterday and said hey look what I got! She went out to the mall and picked up some Reebok Easy Tones. Some of our friends who have purchased them gave us excellent reviews. My sister must believe in the product because it's not like her to go out and blow $100. I tried them on and walked around for a while and I guess could feel how they do tone your legs and butt. They also imporve posture and fix any back problems. So if you have a few extra bucks check them out!

  4. Its funny that you wrote about this, because last year a bunch of us at my work purchased sneakers called MBT's they are supposed to be good for your back and spine but at the same time shape your legs and back. They were so expensive and i only wore them for a week, they hurt my feet so bad, and when i did where them i kept tripping over myself because the bottoms are rounded and squishy. I havent tried the reebok ones, if you get them let me know how they work out. Best of luck!

  5. I agree that people should avoid fads and start a consistent diet and exercise program. However, when they say it is similar to walking on sand it makes me really want to try them out and make me feel like it is possible that they work! There is no harm in people wearing them, especially because people will tend to walk more probably just because they are wearing a workout shoe. It might be a great idea after all!

  6. i would not try this product even if you paid me. I feel it is another miricle product that lazy people want to try just because they don't want to work hard in the gym and diet.
